Classroom Policies:
It is important that we see ourselves as a community of learners in which every individual needs to be given respect as well as give respect. Therefore a list of classroom rules is not going to be established; instead I would like the class to follow the simple life lesson of treat others how you would want to be treated. If this is done we will establish a classroom environment where everyone is respected and allowed to take part in the learning process.
Homework Policies:
All assignments will be handed out with an appropriate due date. It is important for students to understand deadlines, both within the school environment and for real world experiences. In order to make clear the deadline for each assignment, the due date will be posted on the assignment handed out to each student, on PowerSchool, and on the whiteboard of the classroom.

Late Assignments:
- When assignments are not handed in, PowerSchool will show the assignment as “missing.”
- Late work must be handed in within the quarter it was due. No work will be accepted after the end of the quarter.
- After the assignment is graded, the equivalent of one letter grade will also be deducted from the final score as penalty. For example, if you would have received an A on the assignment, but you turned it in late, you would then receive a B.
- It is each student’s responsibility to know what assignments they are missing by frequently checking PowerSchool. It is also advised that students do not throw away any graded assignments in case there is a discrepancy in PowerSchool.
Extra Credit:
English Department does not offer extra credit.
Plagiarism:
As per school policy the first offense of plagiarism will result in a 0% on the assignment and immediate parent contact by teacher and administrator. The second offense will result in a failure for the quarter and immediate parent contact by administrator. The third offense will result in a failure for the semester, withdrawal from class, and immediate parent contact by administrator.
